I still don't know what to do with this space, but I couldn't resist sharing these photos. They're big, so I'm putting them behind a cut.

Sometimes, after a summer rain (especially in late afternoon), our back yard takes on an eerie yellow glow. I think it's the waning sun filtering through low clouds. Standing in that light feels like being on a movie set or in an old Kodachrome photo. Nothing seems real.

No matter how many things I get used to or take for granted, it always takes my breath away.



Neither of these photos have been manipulated. They were taken less than five minutes apart.

☺ WELL OBVIOUSLY. This is where I grew up (though it's changed over the years). When mom died, dad stayed, but when it got too much for him we had to decide what to do. All that fancy represents a lifetime of work and I just couldn't bear to let it go.

Now I have to weed it. haha.

Hey thanks! I've been working on those flower beds for ages and they're only just starting to come together. I'm not a great gardener.

That yellow light is too much. The first time it happened I thought aliens were landing. (And if that ever happens I'll be the first one abducted bc I'll be standing in the middle of the lawn going "whooooaaaaaa.")

It's definitely sci-fi-ish. The next time it happens, I'm hoping there will be another person there so I can see if the light makes us look as odd as the landscape.

I don't think I saw these pink sky photos... Is there a place where I can see them now?
